Just a quick e-mail to say that Tony is delighted with the replated watch case you recently did for me.

Thank you. Sarah Britner

Frequently asked questions about plating

Many of the most frequently asked questions have been covered in this section. If, however, something has been missed that is of concern to you please do contact us. You can phone, email or use the contact form. If you phone and there is no answer please do leave a message as someone will get back to you.

(Q) You say a thick layer of gold but just how thick is thick?

(A) Precious Metal Plating primarily use the brush plating technique to plate your work which allows control, to a large degree, of how much precious metal is applied. This also allows more attention to be given to areas, such as corners and edges, that might take the most wear. With the metal formulas used by PMP you should expect long life from your plated item. In truth, though, all plating eventually wears with use.

(Q) The plate has worn off my knives and they have become pitted, can you repair damaged items?

(A) Yes, as long as there is enough metal to work with. Damage can be polished away or filled in and re shaped. If a repair is beyond us or not worth the time we will honestly tell you.

(Q) can you plate on items other than metal?

(A) PMP can plate on almost anything, with special preparation, though rigid non metals are the best. For example: the rigid plastic shafts on darts look fabulous gold plated.

(Q) How long will my plating job take to do?

(A) Where possible PMP turn work round in no longer than seven days. If, because of work load for example, your job is going to take longer we will always let you know.

(Q) How do we make payment?

(A) You will be sent an email invoice for which you can use a debit or credit card. Cheques, enclosed with your order, are also accepted by prior arrangement . Cheques have to clear, however, before work is started on your order.

(Q) What is your guarantee?

(A) Without affecting your rights we will guarantee work for a period of one year as long as this is with normal usage and no abrasives or harsh chemicals have been used in cleaning. Instructions on cleaning and care will be included with your delivery. This leaflet will also show your guarantee.

(Q) Is your jewellery delivered in boxes

(A) In order to keep delivery prices as low as possible your jewellery is delivered in protective wrappings. If you require a jewellery box you should be able to buy one from your local hobby or craft shop, or even somewhere like Staples, at a lot less than we could deliver one for you. If you are really adventurous you could make one yourself. Google for how to make a jewellery box.

Failing the above you could buy one from places such as tiny box company
